Jolinda Babcock is the founder of The Law Office of Jolinda Babcock, PLLC and Tarheel Mediations. Originally from Pennsylvania, she graduated summa cum laude from the University of Scranton before making North Carolina her home in 1989. After graduating with a J.D. from The University of North Carolina School of Law, she spent 22 years in private practice focusing on handling workers’ compensation claims. As a former partner in the firm of Robinson & Lawing, LLP, Jolinda appeared before civil courts as well as the North Carolina Industrial Commission, North Carolina Court of Appeals and The Supreme Court of North Carolina.
Throughout her career, Jolinda has been an active presenter at numerous seminars hosted by groups including Wake Forest University, The North Carolina Bar Association and the North Carolina Advocates for Justice. She has taught continuing legal education on topics such as workers' compensation stress claims, mediation and ethics and continues to speak at conferences for attorneys and others involved in mediation and workers’ compensation. Jolinda also had the honor of presenting at the 2012 and 2014 North Carolina Industrial Commission Educational Conferences on the subject of mediated settlement conferences.
In addition, Jolinda has been active in the North Carolina Bar Association. She served as Committee Chair and program planner for the North Carolina Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Section’s Annual Continuing Education Program from 2002 to 2004 and then as a member of the Workers’ Compensation Section Council from 2004 to 2007. After a year as Vice Chair of that Section, Jolinda served as the Chair leading the Section from 2006 to 2007. Additionally, Jolinda was a Council member of the Dispute Resolution Section of the Bar Association from 2011 to 2014, again acting as Committee Chair and program planner for the Dispute Resolution Annual Meeting and CLE in 2013.
In 2003, Jolinda became certified as a Superior Court mediator by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission and is on the appointed mediator list for North Carolina Industrial Commission. Being selected by attorneys for both plaintiffs and defendants, she has mediated thousands of cases, primarily in the area of workers’ compensation. Now, at Tarheel Mediations, Jolinda focuses her entire practice on helping litigants solve issues by serving as a neutral mediator.
Jolinda and her husband, Clint, have been married since 1999 and together they like to spend time with their rescue dogs and travel, especially on cruises. In her spare time, Jolinda also enjoys oil painting, photography, reading and Italian cooking.
